The Texas Medical Transcription Institute course will enable you to:

• Develop extensive knowledge of medical terminology
• Understand human anatomy
• Develop knowledge of clinical diagnoses and treatment of common diseases and conditions
• Learn about common lab tests, diagnostic indications, techniques, expression of values and significance of results
• Demonstrate knowledge of common drugs and their indications, actions, dosages and administration
• Become familiar with surgical diagnoses, techniques, findings and equipment
• Demonstrate knowledge of Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), formerly AAMT, standards of style
• Understand medical ethics, including privacy and confidentiality
• Practice transcription using the industry-approved educational SUM program, complete reports and take the exam to become a Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT).
