Corporate History

More than 20 years ago, Mary Lou Tunnicliffe was working as a contract medical transcriptionist at a hospital in Austin, Texas. With a family to raise, she wanted more control over her schedule along with work-at-home flexibility.

So Mary Lou started her own transcription business, Medical Transcription Service, and began hiring transcriptionists as word of mouth caused business to flourish.

Today, MTS is still a family-owned business. But with more than 130 transcriptionists and some leading hospital systems, clinics and private practices as clients, MTS is becoming a force in the medical-transcription industry. MTS is one of the first medical transcription service companies to offer its own training and internship program.
